What You Get from a $130 Massage
For most people, money is the biggest obstacle to getting regular massage. There, I said it. We don’t like to talk about money, it’s supposed to be a private issue. But I’m addressing it head on. Regular massage is a considerable budget item, and it’s important to acknowledge that.
I know this because...
I walk the walk and get regular massage.
I am crazy tight with finances, so if I don’t plan for it, massage doesn’t happen.
But if I expect you to jiggle the numbers and budget for a $130 massage every week, month, or quarter, it’s my job to tell you what you’re buying. So here it is, what you get from a 90-Minute, $130 massage.
Clarity in Pricing
What I charge is clearly listed here
First Appointment Special
Your first 90-minute appointment is only $1 per minute! As a new client, I invite you to experience my work at a discounted rate. A 90-minute session is the perfect amount of time to allow me to get an idea of where you are with your body, and it gives you the chance to experience my style of bodywork to see if it fits what you're looking for.
As my goal is to make massage more accessible I have intentionally set my rates at below market value. There are many ways to show gratitude! The most appreciated form is reviews and referral. When you tell your friends about me, write a review about me on My Google Reviews page, my Yelp page, and my Facebook Business page or purchase gift certificates for friends and family, it helps my business grow and allows me to spread the love. Although cash tips are always appreciated when received, they are never expected.
A Full Hour and a Half
A Standard 90-Minute Sessionr = 90 minutes. The clock doesn’t start until I walk in the room and actually begin the massage.
That’s not the case for every business. Burke Williams and Massage Envy’s hour is 50 minutes.
Even some full service spas operate on a 50-minute hour. But in my office, 60, 90, and 120 minute treatments last exactly as long as indicated. (Unless you’re late, then I may have to adjust accordingly.)
Ease of Scheduling
Scheduling tends to be the second biggest obstacle to getting regular massage. We never think of scheduling massage at a time that is actually convenient to call.
If you prefer, you can call me at (415) 652-7173 to schedule. (We may need to play a bit of phone tag since I may need to call you back between clients.)
You get my full attention. From the time you enter my office, you are the superstar. You are the reason we’re in the room. Need silence? We can do that.
Want me to spend the full hour on your feet? Sure. Warm table? Cool room? Not a problem.
You get your own full attention. No phone. No demands. Just you.
I’ve had 14 years of practice and hundreds of hours of education. They were all just prep for your massage.
Every massage is customized to your individual needs taht day. When you need all the focus on the shoulders, I got you! When you need the slow deep work around all your joints, I got you! When you just need to experience relaxation for recovery, I got you!
I won’t practice any techniques that are unsafe for you and your health condition.
If you are healing from a recent injury, experiencing a flare-up of an older issue, or having accute pain somehwere, we won't be doing any agressive work to "dig out the problem". No-Pain/No-Gain?... Not here buddy! I am all about results without pain, slow foxued deep tissue work without the agressive jack hammering and painfun reconstruction work. You should always feel better in your body when you leae my office.
There are plenty of massage therapists offering discounted massage, operating under the radar.
If a therapist is operating without all the proper licenses, their insurance will be voided in the event of claim. That’s scary stuff right there.
I carry liability insurance to ensure that you and I are covered if something does go other than planned. Thakfully, I have never had to use it.
A massage with me gets you connections with all the practitioners I know. And that’s a lot of people. If massage isn’t helping your tendonitis/backache/anxiety, I’ll help you find the right acupuncturist, PT or counselor for you.
High-quality massage oil (or cream, or lotion).
I only use the best products on your skin. I work with Bon Vital massage creams because they are organic, hydrating for the skin and don't leave clients freeling oily or greasy. I choose to use organic products whenever possible, from my creams and lotions to my laundry detergents and cleaning /sanitizing tools.
You get to support a small local business
It’s just me! No conglomerate. No fancy management structure or corporate set up. Just a little business owner, paying his taxes, making a living, and participating in the same communities she serves. There are fewer and fewer businesses that can stay afloat in an era of big-box stores and amazon. When you pay $130 for a massage, you can be certain that money is staying in the local economy.
All that, from a $130 massage.
